The Wednesday 29th November session, hosted the blocks of Tourism and Trade, Economy and Finance and the Challenges of Innovation.
In his welcoming speech, the Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation Minister, Gilbert Saboya, took the opportunity to present the key aspects to promote strategies to improve tourist’s loyalty in Andorra, as well as Mobility, accessibility, and new payment models through Smartphones.
The first block focused on Tourism and Trade, started with the conference “Globalization – think big but act on segmentation!”, by Betim Budzaku, general manager of Andorra Turisme. Budzaku explained how new technologies have transformed the consumption and communication habits and how to attract families, while providing them with new experiences in Andorra.
The second conference was proposed by Jordi William, Barcelona Turisme’s General Director. William shared Budzaku’s ideas and added the importance of being present on tourist’s mobile phones, should cities wanted to attract them. Digital transformation is constant and mobile devices are the new channels we use to communicate and to be informed.
EBay’s Marketing, Business, Innovation and Development Manager, Jorge Herrero, talked about the radical evolution of customers’ behaviour, presented trends and figures about the future of e-Commerce and B2C, which will increase by 27.4% over the next few years. Tourism and Trade sectors will therefore have to change the way they offer their products and services.
Miquel Gouarré, director of Andorra Telecom’s NIU, presented this pioneering initiative in Andorra, which enables young entrepreneurs to start their projects with the help of companies and businessmen.
The session ended with a round table on Tourism and Business Innovation, led by Crowland co-founder Juan Ignacio Luque. Director General of the Alicia Foundation, Toni Massanés; Director of Business Development of EURECAT, Xavier Sastre; Director of the Chamber of Commerce Pilar Escaler; and David Hidalgo, CEO of ENSISA, participated in the debate.
Massanés explained food trends and consumption patterns according to our habits and personal situation. Xavier Sastre, from EURECAT, presented the tools they offer customers to keep them innovating constantly: industrial technologies, such as robotics or drones, or digital technologies, such as Big Data. Pilar Escaler, from the Andorran Chamber of Commerce, stressed the importance of e-commerce, which obliges shops to offer new shopping experiences. David Hidalgo, stressed the importance of new technologies and innovation in the ski slopes: online booking, skied and uneven kms travelled, and payment of products and services with mobile phones, among others.
After the Networking Luncheon and sponsored presentations, the INNTEC Conferences resumed with presentations in the economic and financial field. The programme hosted the presentation of the Merkaat project, which is a Crèdit Andorrà’s digital investment advisory tool, presented by Santiago de Larrea, the company’s Digital Private Banking Project Manager.
Juan Manuel Quesada, head of EBURY’s Corporate Growth and Development department, presented the positive and negative aspects of applying new technologies in the financial sector.
In this thematic block, lawyer Bernat Domeyó from Uría Menéndez, explained the concept of public-private collaboration between companies, administrations and even citizens in order to launch new pioneering projects.
Alan Labsch, Managing Director of Lykke, closed the Economics and Finance block with the “Digital Assets & Platforms” Conference. Labsch unveiled new storage and data exchange platforms with a clear objective: collaboration with companies and individuals to continue innovating.
INNTEC closed the first day with the legal aspects and opportunities of the 4.0 industry, with a round table discussion moderated by Vladimir Fernández, founding partner of Alfa Capital.
Ester Peralba, founding partner of Pl Advocats, explained the problem to determine which laws and regulations must be respected by new companies that develop all their services through the Internet. She was followed by Elena Redondo, partner at Manubens Abogados, who explained the terms of electronic trust and the prevention of money laundering in digital businesses.
The last presentation was given by Andorra Telecom’s Security Officer, César Marquina, around the concepts of data security and privacy, which must be taken into account when creating a digital company. Lluís Ramis, partner and CEO of Cluster Development, stressed the importance of developing cluster initiatives as an essential tool to improve competitiveness in different sectors.
The second day of conferences and round tables will begin tomorrow morning at 10 a. m. at the Andorra la Vella Congress Centre with the blocks: cities of the future, Mobility and sustainability, and digitisation. The conference will conclude with a round table discussion on new business models and success stories, open to the public in general.
