The Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Business, Jordi Gallardo, opened the day and highlighted the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries. Gallardo also valued “the relations between Andorra and China, after 25 years, are more than consolidated”.
The Chinese ambassador to Andorra, Lyu Fan, highlighted the excellent relations with Andorra and recalled that China was one of the first countries to sign a bilateral agreement with the Principality. He also emphasized that last year exports with Andorra increased by 40.7% and imports by 49%, “figures showing that growth is important and has great potential. The ambassador also predicted these meetings “will help the two parties to study new opportunities for investment and cooperation.
Actua Empresa’s director, Judit Hidalgo, presented the business opportunities in Andorra, highlighting the country’s potential in innovative projects, promoted by Actua. She took some examples such as the Data Hub Andorra, the analysis of data related to mountains (Casa de la Muntanya), the Drones lab and further collaborations with internationally prestigious entities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Google. She also mentioned the different clusters and other projects developed jointly with Andorran entities such as OBSA, CENMA and the Institut d’Estudis Andorrans.
This event represented the third business meeting between China and Andorra with the aim of promoting trade relations. Some representatives of Grandvalira and Vallnord also attended, and recalled, among others, how the major events of 2019 (Ski and MTB World Cups) were organized.
52 meetings between Andorran and Chinese businessmen
The event began with several bilateral business meetings (B2B), with professional participants from nine Chinese companies, such as Air China, Huawei and China Construction Bank. For 2 hours, they held individual meetings with representatives of 13 Andorran companies.
