Some members of the Actua program met Wednesday with the Madeeli Agency, the Agency for Economic Development, Export and Innovation of the Midi-Pyrénées. The Andorran delegation was represented by the Director of the Investment and Development Agency, Imma Jimenez, and a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Estel.
The aim of this meeting was to continue the economic mission which took place on July 8th in Toulouse, between Andorra and the French region of Midi-Pyrénées. This conference was organized jointly by the Government of Andorra, Actua, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Andorra, the Midi-Pyrénées and Madeeli. As a result of this business meeting, the two parties expressed the desire to create links between the two regions through initiatives and concrete projects.
The meeting allowed to share specific projects linked to the innovation taking place in Andorra within the Smart Country project. The Andorran delegation placed special importance on collaborations that are taking place with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop a “bigdata” and with Google to position the entire Andorran shopping offer virtually.
Another aspect addressed during the meeting was to see how French companies could participate in the projects currently being developed in Andorra.
Finally, contacts were facilitated between Andorran and the Midi-Pyrénées clusters. These same representatives have been invited to attend the next innovation cluster that will take place on September 24th at the cultural and sports complex of Encamp.
