The eighth edition of the Tandem project, promoted by Andorra Business and the Ministry of Education and Higher Learning of the Government of Andorra, ended this Wednesday, December 20th, with the grand final held at the auditorium of the center for Professional Formation in Aixovall. 60 students took part in this edition, grouped into 12 teams tutored by 12 teachers and various business mentors, working for four months on solutions to the challenges presented by three of the country´s companies.
Specifically, students presented their projects to Nice Tech, whose challenge was to raise awareness in Andorra´s population regarding the value of frozen fruits; Molines Patrimonis wanted ideas to create a unique, efficient, profitable, sustainable and technologically leading professional environment in the country for companies of the future; and Opció Group wanted to know what competences were needed for younger generations in the future professional world. The winning team was Arq & Mirall, with an avant-garde and intelligent building project, offering a solution to the challenge presented by the Molines Patrimonis company.
The jury members were Olga Moreno, director of the Escola Andorrana, Formació Andorrana and Formació Professional, Judit Hidalgo, director of Andorra Business, Estefanía Díaz, Communications teacher, Neus Tort, Head of studies at the Centre de Formació Professional, and representing the participating companies: Eva Bros, Elisa Fité and Pascual Gràcia.
The State Secretary for Enterprise, Economic Diversification and Innovation, Marc Saura, explained that the Government considers this program to be “an example of collaboration between the public and private sectors, a model of formation in the field of entrepreneurship, and as a showcase for country´s the young talent. We think it is an excellent proposal of value for companies and a unique experience for the professionals of tomorrow”.
In addition, the State Secretary for Education and Universities, Josep Anton Bardina, pointed out that “Tandem allows the entry into a company dynamic and learn much on the functioning of businesses. Learning which goes far beyond the academic or theoretical. Real work is carried out putting into practice knowledge learnt in the classroom”.
Along these lines, the director of Andorra Business, Judit Hidalgo, highlighted that “Tandem includes an educational program specifically designed to equip youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to face challenges of the professional world. Their formation not only includes technical aspects, but also skills such as problem solving, teamwork and effective communication”.
Over the last few months, students have carried out a series of works and formations in fields like company and market analysis. They the developed ideas around the challenges in creation, prototyping and acceleration workshops before presenting to a jury. So far 24 of the country´s companies have taken part in the eight editions of the Tandem project.
