The Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise, Jordi Gallardo, the Health Minister, Joan Martínez Benazet, the Tourism Minister, Verònica Canals and the Minister for Culture and Sports, Sílvia Riva, presented on April 15th the declaration of Sport as a Sector of National Interest. The event was actively participated in by both Josep Marticella and Gemma Riu, from the Andorra Esports Clúster, organization which promoted the request to be of national interest.

Among other aspects, the declaration allows the sector to know in accordance with each pandemic risk level, which sporting activities and tourism sports are permitted, and which protocols must be followed to carry them out. The guide, approved by the Health Ministry and the Scientific Committee, outlines five different levels. Thus, establishing a known protocol framework and able to regulate the vast majority of given situations, depending on the evolution of the pandemic, with the aim of reducing uncertainty for all the sector´s agents and users.

The declaration generates a positive impact for sport in the country, both federated and amateur as well as for professional residents, and allows to advance in the reaching of objectives of the Government´s plan (Horitzó 23) and the ODS of the United Nations. During the presentation, the impact of sport on peoples´ physical and emotional health was highlighted, as well as its impact on the economy, representing 8% of the country´s GDP.
