The head of the government, Antoni Martí, the cònsols of the seven parishes and the general director of FEDA, Albert Moles, signed an agreement this Tuesday, April 24th, for the creation of an integrated multimodal mobility platform. The future platform will promote easier, more efficient and sustainable mobility, in line with the efforts already made for a new mobility model.
The Minister for Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability, and president of FEDA, Silvia Calvó, the Minister for Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation, Gilbert Saboya, and cònsols menors of Canillo, David Palmitjavila, and Escaldes-Engordany, Marc Calvet, presented the platform to be created and expressed the importance of working together on this project.
Minister Calvó said the new mobility model has its origin in the energy’s llibre blanc (white paper). With the signing of this agreement, a further step has been taken in changing the model, with the promotion of electric mobility, the Engega program, and the implementation of the electric charger network.
An agreement that foresees the creation of a platform featuring different types of mobility, such as the electric chargers network, the shared electric bicycle service, the public bus service, and both public and private car parks.
A single platform with all the information
The platform will provide unified access to all services, a centralised payment system and real-time information on bus schedules, available bicycles, free electric chargers and available parking spaces. In addition, it will have geolocation, access routes that link the different modes of mobility, and the possibility of making reservations in the different services, through a mobile application.
The Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Innovation, Gilbert Saboya, explained that unifying the different forms of mobility on the same platform will facilitate mobility for citizens and visitors.
The involvement of the comuns in the project is crucial, according to Canillo’s cònsol menor, David Palmitjavila, since a large part of mobility management goes through local authorities. Marc Calvet also expressed the full support of the local authorities, which should be to the benefit of the user.
