Saboya valued the success of the 2017 Engega Program, with the registration of 154 electric vehicles, which represents a 39% increase, along with a 30% reduction in hybrid vehicles.
The 2018 Engega Program increases the Government’s subsidy from 9,000 to 10,000 euros for the purchase of pure electric vans, in addition to the 1,000 euros provided by the car dealerships. Also, It also favours the renewal of vans by increasing aids for scrapping old vehicles from 750 to 1,250 euros.
The program’s budget is maintained at 850,000 euros, with the aim of further boosting electric mobility, which penetration rate remains at 3.4%. Andorra is ranked fourth in electric vehicle sales ratio in the world.
Minister Saboya closed his speech announcing the elimination, in 2018, of the current incentive in vehicle ownership taxes that favours Diesel vehicles as opposed to gasoline. However, a legislative amendment is mandatory, so this proposal is set to be carried out in the coming months.
