At 2 p.m, the Secretary of State for Economic Diversification, Josep Maria Missé, will speak giving the conference “Big Data for more responsive and human cities” (Room 1) and will explain how Andorra is creating a reference framework for the development of innovation and technology that contributes to the country’s economic diversification, as well as promoting investment in human capital and local talent. With this vision of transformation, the Andorra Living Lab project has begun, in collaboration with Changing Places MIT Media Lab.
Both conferences can be followed live on Periscope: @IniciativaActua.
Spectacular projects
From Tuesday 15 November 9 a.m to Thursday 17 November 6 p.m, you can visit the ACTUA stand, presenting the Principality of Andorra and its investment opportunities. One of our stand’s main attractions is the first ‘Andorran’ CityScope. It is a visualization tool to project data and human behaviour studies on physical mockups. The stand will provide the opportunity to see preliminary analysis on tourism in 3D models of Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, simulating the flow of people during a working day, during a day in which there has been a performance by the Cirque du Soleil, and even during the Tour de France.
The visualization of the analysis-and simulations of possible scenarios- allow visitors to see both people’s mobility and the impact of many events on the country. The results of such analysis provide a new variable to be considered in the decision-making process, while facilitating the design of strategies in order to improve visitor experience.
CityMatrix and AndorrAR
The stand will also exhibit a CityMatrix and the AndorrAR, two prototypes of interactive visualization tools focused mainly on urban planning. Andorra is seeking to promote collaboration in real time and the decentralization of its participation with augmented reality solutions. MIT researchers will demonstrate its functioning.
Innovation and collaboration are two of the pillars proposed by the Actua Innovation project. More details regarding a project of sensor devices in collaboration with the Andorran School, the University of Andorra and the Observatori de la Sostenibilitat or the designing of an innovation district with autonomous vehicles are other initiatives to be discovered at this exhibition.
During the three day-congress, researchers, businessmen, leaders and citizens from around the world will share projects, ideas, visions on the development of our cities and how these should be “Cities for Citizens”.
