The parish of Ordino will host from 9th to 11th October, the 5th Jornades Tècniques de Neu i Allaus, (Pyrenean Symposium on Snow and Avalanches), organised by the Centre d’Estudis de la Neu i de la Muntanya d’Andorra (CENMA), the Observatori de la Sostenibilitat d’Andorra (OBSA), the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya, the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya and the Conselh Generau d’Aran, in collaboration with the Comú d’Ordino.

The event wants to connect professionals and citizens interested in the snow sector and avalanches. This year’s conference will be structured in the following blocks: (1) mountain meteorology, (2) avalanche prediction, (3) snow, climate and water resources, (4) avalanche dynamics, mapping and protections, and (5) accidents, mountain safety and spreading of information. Conferences will be given by more than twenty speakers. Crèdit Andorrà, TAS and ACTUA are the main sponsors of the Conference.

The inauguration will take place on Monday, October 9th at 9 a. m. at the ACCO and will be led by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Eric Jover, and the cònsol major (Mayor) of Ordino, J. Àngel Mortés. At 7 p. m., there will be a round table debate open to the public, on safety and mountain risks in winter, with the participation of freerider Aymar Navarro, mountain guide Iñigo Ayón and several avalanche experts from the Pyrenees.
