The Minister of Tourism and Trade, Francesc Camp, presented the actions contemplated in the Strategic Plan for Tourism Shopping, as an opportunity for the tourism and commercial sector to position Andorra as a referenced shopping destination in Europe.

The plan provides the strategy and the actions to be carried out in the coming years to achieve the following objectives: diversify and improve the quality of the commercial offer targeting an international audience, attracting and developing new brands, as well as new retail formats. Those actions aim at strengthening the tourism offer, increasing the number of visitors and their reasons to visit us, as well as the length of their journeys.
In order to achieve the goals, more than one hundred actions will be implemented by both public and private actors at an estimated cost of €115 million. These actions should be performed within a period of eight years and the expected impact is an increase of more than one million visitors.

As a priority, actions will focus on improving the urban and commercial areas in order to optimize the experience and comfort in purchasing, as well as the accessibility from the borders. It has also important for the commercial offer to be completed with cultural and leisure events, and create more references (infrastructure and events) to attract visitors, while integrating the increasingly emerging e-commerce in the traditional trade.

The strategic plan wants to strengthen the position and the current zoning of the most commercial areas of the country, such as the central area, including Avinguda Meritxell, Vivand and Fener Boulevard and complementary areas (the historical center of Andorra la Vella, Riberaygua crossings and the old Escaldes-Engordany area) and Pas de la Casa. The plan also includes other actions on parishes and areas traditionally dedicated to more specialized and / or proximity trade.
