ACTUA’s cluster for sports presented the first analysis of the sports sector made in the country to more than fifty members, on Friday December 2. According to the Cluster Development company consultants, Maria Pedrals and Oriol Izquierdo, ski tourism and mountain sports are the sector’s main pillars. Therefore, they stated their aim as to promoting a practical project addressed to all the sports companies looking to grow, to optimize their businesses, to innovate and internationalize their activities.

In this regard, the cluster leader, Laurence Lestang, reported that the second phase of the project’s work which will be starting shortly, will set future strategies recommended for different business models, which must be agreed on between the public and the private sector. This should allow for improved competitiveness.

ACTUA’s director, Imma Jiménez, said the study “should be used to define specific actions for businesses to grow and become more profitable,” and recalled that “the cluster is both a networking space as well as an instrument.”

More than 3,000 jobs

This first sector’s qualitative analysis made over the past few months also served to quantify 92 companies in the sports cluster, with an estimated turnover of 200 million euros and 3.252 employees.
