Andorra Telecom’s general director, Jordi Nadal, highlighted during the presentation of this second edition that “the first Demo Day was intended to have continuity, and the excellent results achieved last year have encouraged us even more”.
The first Demo Day, held in 2017, brought together nine innovative projects and about fifty financing professionals from banks, Family Offices, Venture Capital funds and Business Angels. The capital raised for projects was of 415,000 euros.
The head of NIU, Miquel Gouarré, noted that much of the success was motivated by the interest aroused by the participating Start-ups. “So far, we’ve seen companies preparing really good projects. For Gouarré, it is very important for potential investors to find stimulating, well presented and viable projects and, at the same time, for Start-ups to see the event as a good platform for obtaining financing.”
The Demo Day will be held in a format identical to the last edition. Entrepreneurs will have ten minutes to convince the audience of the viability of their proposal.
NIU managers are currently selecting six to eight Start-ups that will participate in the Demo Day. Entrepreneurs are based in the NIU and outside.
Funding is one of the fundamental barriers faced by innovation projects. According to Jordi Nadal, “the Demo Day should not be a lever only for the companies of the Andorra Telecom incubator but for any other project based on technology”.
