The first Edition of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in Andorra, a program for women entrepreneurs of Andorra, ended on Tuesday afternoon October 25th with the award ceremony for the best projects given out by the Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise and president of Andorra Business, Jordi Gallardo, the United States Consul General, Katie Stana, and the director of Andorra Business, Judit Hidalgo. The jury awarded 1000 Euro prizes to the projects by Sara Valls of Color Botànica, Inka Bellés from Escape Andorra and Cathy Labouyrie of T2G, centered around sport, the environment and nature.
This initiative is promoted by the General Consulate of the United States in Barcelona along with Andorra Business, and is financially supported by the U.S. State Department and has the collaboration of the Women´s Association of Andorra. The program started last June with the aim of developing entrepreneurial projects lead by women. The 12 participants from the country benefited from a combination of in-person masterclasses given by Andorran mentors, and intensive virtual DreamBuilder formation, provided by the Thunderbird Business School, from Arizona State University in the U.S.
The Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise and president of Andorra Business, Jordi Gallardo, highlighted that “our women entrepreneurs have been able to advance in the development of their business or project and improved their business skills. And from these results, their talent and innovative projects, not only will they themselves benefit but also the whole of Andorran society”.
Gallardo also stated that work is ongoing in order to ensure the project´s continuity next year and recalled “hat participants also become a part of the vast AWE global network of women entrepreneurs. A network with over 16000 women from 80 countries worldwide”.
The closing day ended with a talk titled “Impulse for Women Entrepreneurs”, given by Esther Cid, psychologist, entrepreneur, talent connector, CEO and cofounder of Tipscool, and ex-student of the AWE program in Spain.
