The Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise, and president of Actua, Jordi Gallardo, the Mayor of Ordino, Josep Àngel Mortès, and the director of operations for Ironman in Southern Europe, Ferran Giménez, presented on Monday January 18th the Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees at Casa de la Muntanya, one of the races taking place within the Andorra Multisport Festival.
The competition will take place from the 24th to the 27th of June 2021 and will be a four-day event with four races, going from least to most in distance: 7,5 km, 25 km, 55 km and 125 km.
Gallardo highlighted that “without a doubt Ordino is one of the best parishes for this competition to take place. Firstly, due to the experience and popular support that this type of races has always received. But also, thanks to the historical collective engagement of Ordino with mountain sports, its care for the environment and its respect for patrimony. A strategy recognized last October by UNESCO declaring the Valley of Ordino a Biosphere Reserve”. The minister also stated that “we are sure the athletes will enjoy spectacular courses with incredible landscapes.”
The participation of between 2.500 and 3.000 athletes is estimated. The profile is usually that of a manager or businessman, with a mid to high income between 40 and 45 years of age. The estimate is that around 60% will be men and 40% women. As for the economic impact, (according to estimates and calculations made thanks to data facilitated by Ironman based on impact data from Ironman races that have taken place in other cities around the world and adapted to Andorra), will be of around 6.2 million euros.
