The Consulate General of the USA in Barcelona in collaboration with Andorra Business announced the first edition of the free formation program for women entrepreneurs by the American government “Academy for Women Entrepreneurs” (AWE), which will take place between May and October in Andorra. The program will be developed in collaboration with the Andorran Women´s Association.
The call is open to women entrepreneurs of any nationality, residing in Andorra, that have created a startup in the last 4 years or that have a well-developed idea and are about to launch. All the participants will be a part of the vast network of AWE entrepreneurs that includes over 16.000 women from 80 countries around the world.
The American ambassador, Julissa Reynoso, Ambassador for the U.S.A. in Spain and Andorra explained that “with this initiative we want women to develop all of their economic potential as entrepreneurs and connect them to a large global network of women entrepreneurs from around the world who have also participated in AWE. Today, more than ever, we need to guarantee that women are given all possible opportunities to contribute to the reconstruction of the global economy”.
In addition, the Minister for Presidency, Economy and Enterprise, and president of Andorra Business, Jordi Gallardo, highlighted that “the country boasts a very important network of women entrepreneurs, some of whom are internationally renowned. The 15 professionals selected by the AWE program will be able to expand their knowledge and contacts which will greatly benefit their businesses. Results will be seen very quickly”.
Gallardo also spoke about further actions being prepared by Andorra Business for women entrepreneurs at the Andorra Business Market in May, a women entrepreneurship session at the end of the year and various acts between entrepreneurs and partners in Barcelona, Toulouse and Madrid taking place in 2023.
AWE is a free entrepreneurship program funded by the State Department of the U.S. with the aim of promoting the development of entrepreneurial projects led by women. The program offers participating entrepreneurs a combination of masterclasses, as well as the intensive virtual formation Dream Builder, provided by Thunderbird an American business school, from the Arizona State University. This entrepreneurial course has the goal of providing support to the development and growth of a business or entrepreneurial project and increase the skills of women entrepreneurs in the field of business.
Women entrepreneurs interested in participating in the program can send their request by filling out the form found on the AWE Program Andorra website.
Applications must be presented before April 29th.
